Our mission is to advance the understanding of the microbial ecology of the gastrointestinal tract in cattle and other food animals and apply that knowledge to improve animal performance, feed efficiency, health, welfare, sustainability, and food safety.

Through research on the interactions among diet, management, environmental factors, microbial physiology, and host responses, our lab develops practical strategies to optimize the gastrointestinal microbiome. Our work supports more efficient and profitable beef and dairy production systems while reducing foodborne pathogens, addressing antimicrobial resistance, and promoting the long-term sustainability of animal agriculture.
